New Winery Opens in Skagit County


Mount Vernon, WA- Carpenter Creek Winery announced its "Grand Opening" weekend 
festivities today and the public is invited to join in.
Owners Jeff and Tara Hammer invite everyone to help them celebrate this grand opening 
Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 18-20, 2003 10am-6pm. Come and be the first to start a 
new tradition! The grand opening event will feature the release of their 2002 Yakima Valley 
Appellation Riesling, Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as barrel tasting 
from their 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The public is welcome to tour the facility and 
sample a variety of current release wines, local and specialty hors d'oeuvres, wines from the 
barrel, and to take in the quiet, relaxed surroundings of Carpenter Creek.
Currently specializing in full-bodied, handcrafted wines produced in the Burgundian tradition, 
Carpenter Creek Winery also produces Riesling and other Germanic-style wines grown from 
the finest vineyards in Eastern Washington. "Our mission is to make only the finest quality 
wines, and that requires the finest fruit." Says Winemaker Jeff Hammer. Carpenter Creek 
wines are currently available at the winery, online at www.carpentercreek.com, as well as 
wine shops and markets throughout Western Washington.
This grand opening event also rings in their summer winery hours, which will be every 
Friday and Saturday, 10am-6pm from July 18 to October 4, 2003 and by appointment.

From I-5 take exit 225 'Anderson Rd. Exit.' (From the north on I-5 turn left and go across the 
freeway, from south on I-5 turn right.) Take the first right onto Cedardale Rd. Proceed on 
Cedardale for approximately one mile to Hickox Rd. Turn left on Hickox Rd. and follow it for 
one mile to the end of the road. We are the last driveway on the right. The Oak Barrel mailbox
