Hotter than normal summer temperatures in the Yakima and Columbia vallyes followed a cool late spring. This weather combination has created grapes of exceptional quality. The early ripening varietals such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc developed high sugar levels leading to particularly intense flavors. The 1998 red wines may be the best since 1994. The 1997 Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are still in barrel and are coming along wonderfully. Wine Related Gifts Remember, anything you saw in the store this summer can be shipped.
