Production: (1997) 1k cases, (1996) 1200 cases Vineyards: none History: In the winter of 1993 David and Linda Lowe moved from Seattle onto the three acres where the house and winery are presently. They founded the winery in 1994, with their first crush the same year, and the tasting room opening the following May in a horse barn purchased from a neighbor. David grew up in a small town in Eastern Oregon and Linda grew up in the Yakima Valley. They both enjoyed a love of wine from touring the Oregon wine country over many years and, starting in the mid '80s, touring the Yakima Valley wine country.
They both wanted the small town life for their two sons Steven and
Patrick, and when combined with their love of wine, this made for a
perfect as they refer to it, an "escape from the big city" plan.

Winemakers: David Lowe David Lowe 1994-present Of special note: In the tasting room they also sell Riedel (pronounced reed-ul) crystal glasses to enhance your winetasting experience. David says: Our philosophy of wine making at Wineglass Cellars is hands on. We keep production small and quality very high. This enables us to closely control the quality from vintage crush to labeling of the bottles. We buy only the highest quality grapes from the Yakima Valley, Oregon and California to produce our wines. When we talk of handcrafted wines we mean it! (This is also cause for lots of tired days during crush and press.) Our emphasis is on red wines. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Yakima Valley, Pinot Noir from Oregon when the quality is good, and Zinfandel from the Lodi appellation rounds out our current offerings. Wineglass Cellars is a small winery currently producing 1200 cases per year. As such we are able to acquire small lots of grapes, that a larger winery would not bother with, and produce a small bottling of special wines that are unique to a vintage. Wines such as Late Harvest Semillon from 1995 and Gewurztraminer from 1996 are examples. The winery is located in the Yakima Valley. Our cozy tasting room has a lovely view of the surrounding apple orchards of Zillah, Washington. Special events:
