MikeL's FreeBSD howto - cvsup/cvsupit
This is basically a checklist of how to setup a new system to do
networking stuff beyond the basic. The intent is not to cover
everything in detail, merely to point you to each of the tasks that
must be performed.

- in the 4.2-RELEASE you'll find the ports collection is hosed.
Anything you try to build results in some "upgrade" error.
- The fix for this is not that hard, but takes time:
pkg_add -f ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/development/CVSup/cvsupit.tgz
This will update your ports collection (allocate at least an hour).
When it offers a bunch of stuff, don't select any of them, just hit
ok. You'll then be asked "do you wanna update ports?" -- obviously
you want to answer yes.
