Vintners.net "spam" Local Blocklist
(Page last updated: 07-Nov-2002)
Email "spam" (AKA "UCE" Unsolicited Commercial Email) will not be
tolerated incoming or outgoing at Vintners.net. Please see our
Spam Management page for additional
information.
- Vintners.net maintains an active stance at barring incoming spam.
Any system (IP address and/or domain name) that delivers spam messages
to a Vintners.net mail system will be blocked from doing so again by
being added to the Local Blocklist. Once a system has made it onto
this blocklist, any further attempts to send any email
to any Vintners.Net domain will result in a "550 error".
- If your site has made it onto the Local Blocklist (see above),
namely you were to receive a "550 error" from Vintners.net, we will be
more than happy to work with you on clearing the problem. For us to
resolve the problem, you must forward a complete copy of the "bounce"
email to our
abuse department.

- Vintners.Net is extremely proactive in preventing spam from
reaching it's customers. Beyond our own Local Blocklist (see above),
we are also paid subscribers of the
Mail Abuse Prevention System
(MAPS). We also utilize several well known free "RBL" blocklists;
exactly which ones are in use at any moment can be determined on the
Mail handling Statistics page.
- Vintners.net customers are encouraged to email to the
postmaster of their domain if receiving repeated spam emails.
When repeated offenses are confirmed, that site will be added to the
Local Blocklist. Please observe this protocol, as Vintners.Net has
chosen to require a "paper trail" of offenses in order to justify our
actions, should the need arise. Please forward the complete email,
including complete headers at our
abuse department.
(Without complete headers we can do nothing -- please ask if in
doubt.)
- Please visit our Mail handling
Statistics page for the current mail rejection statistics -- you
will almost certainly be astonished! On any given day, typically
50%-60% of the email sent to our server is rejected as spam from known
spammer sites.
