Vineyards: Associated with Columbia Fruit Packer, Inc. in Wenatchee, WA who is farming 25 acres of wine grapes in Mattawa, WA

History:
Located in East Wenatchee, Washington, Fielding Hills Winery was begun in the mid 1990's with Mike Wade and good friend Jim Edmunds experimenting with winemaking. Mike helped source and supply the grapes and Jim did most of the hands on winemaking.

Early summer of 1999 Mike decided to go commercial, producing premium red wines. He starting by converting and old orchard shop with a tremendous view of the Wenatchee Valley into a winery. He named it Fielding Hills after his grandfather's middle name.

The Wines: Current releases (Fall 1999)

  • 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (release early 2002)
  • 2000 Merlot (release early 2002)

Winemakers:
Mike Wade 2000-present

Of special note:
Says Mike W.:

Winemaking in Washington State has exploded this last year and is expected to continue -- Wenatchee in particular. Several years ago there was a winery in the Wenatchee Area; as of August 2000 there are 3 other area wineries in their start up phases. Although off the beaten path from other wineries, we expect the Wenatchee area to be very supportive of local wineries.

Because our passion will be to produce the finest reds wines possible, Fielding Hills will source grapes from the area gaining world-wide recognition for its red varieties: the Mattawa, Washington area.
